[1] KS Amica Wronki recorded one of the most significant victories in their history as they qualified for the UEFA Cup group stage with a 1-0 victory at home against FK Ventspils , securing a 2-1 aggregate success.
Dembinski denied
[2] With the sides level after the first leg, both teams were understandably cautious in the opening minutes. Indeed, the only early opportunity of note came when Jacek Dembinski unleashed a powerful shot from 20 metres after 18 minutes, but Ventspils goalkeeper Deniss Romanovs did well to push the ball away for a corner.
Deflected winner
[3] The visitors failed to heed that warning and were made to pay on the stroke of half-time when Dembinski was more fortunate with an identical effort, his shot taking a wicked deflection off a Ventspils defender to leave Romanovs with no chance.
Chances missed
[4] The visitors fought valiantly to get back on terms after the break, but Vits Rimkus squandered their first real opening. At the other end, Karol Gregorek missed a great chance to seal the tie for Amica after 67 minutes but the Polish side held on, with Arkadiusz Malarz denying the Latvian team an equaliser with a fine reflex save from Deimantas Bicka three minutes from time.
